Caterpillar Announce 200 Jobs For Belfast

Sinn Féin MP Paul Maskey has welcomed the announcement of 200 new jobs for West Belfast. The 200 new jobs are at Caterpillar.

The West Belfast MP said: "This is welcome news for West Belfast. The creation of jobs is always good news but especially so in this current economic climate.

"The area has suffered from decades of economic neglect and discrimination and the recent redundancies at FG Wilson where a further blow.

"There are many of us trying to secure investment in West Belfast and we will continue to lobby for greater investment in the area."

Belfast-based Purepipe is investing £250,000 and creating six new jobs as part of plans to boost sales in Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland. Invest Northern Ireland has offered the company £45,000 towards its expansion which involves investing in new state-of-the-art specialised pipe manufacturing equipment needed to target new business.

West Belfast Jobs' Boost Welcomed
The NI Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster has congratulated west Belfast business development agency, Ortus, for supporting 100 new business starts over the past 12 months. Ortus is one of two agencies responsible for delivering the Invest Northern Ireland Go for it programme in the west Belfast area.
