Antrim Firm Awarded £10m Contract

SAM Mouldings in Antrim has won a £10 million contract with the UK DIY retailer Wickes as a result of business development support from Invest Northern Ireland.

The contract was announced by the company's Managing Director Richard Holmes and welcomed by Invest NI’s Chief Executive Alastair Hamilton.

SAM Mouldings, a leading manufacturer of MDF mouldings in the UK, has signed a four year deal to provide a range of products, including primed MDF mouldings, wood veneer mouldings, skirting boards, and architraves, to the DIY retailer. The products will be distributed to over 200 outlets across Great Britain through an established supplier, SCA.

Commenting on the new contract, Alastair Hamilton said: "SAM Mouldings is a progressive and quality conscious business which has focused on measures to mitigate the challenging trading environment that many of our construction related firms are currently facing.

"This company has taken a proactive approach to business development and indeed has taken advantage of range of Invest NI support in recent years to improve its processes, develop new products and generate sales with customers in export markets.

"This valuable contract will support SAM Moulding's continued growth and also help to safeguard the employment of its workforce as well as create welcome job opportunities in the Antrim area."

The company plans to create 14 new jobs across its production and sales functions over the next three months to deal with the uplift in business activity. Recruitment is already underway.
