Rape accused refused bail

The man accused of raping a teenage girl at a Belfast golf club has been refused bail at Belfast's High Court.

Craig Morgan, 21, from Malton Drive, Taughmonagh, south Belfast denied the kidnap and rape of the 19-year-old student on the grounds of Balmoral golf club on April 22.

The attack took place at around 2.30am shortly after the girl left a concert at Belfast's Kings Hall.

A Crown lawyer alleged Mr Morgan kidnapped the woman and forced her to have sex against her will, however Mr Morgan's legal representative maintained that sex was consensual.

The Judge, Lord Justice Campbell, refusing an application for bail, ruled that the accused had a case to answer.
