30 New Jobs Announced At Tegral Plant

Kildare South Fianna Fáil TD Seán Ó Fearghaíl has welcomed the announcement of almost 30 new jobs at the Tegral plant in Athy.

Deputy Ó Fearghaíl said: "This week's announcement is very welcome and important for local employment and the local economy. Tegral has said the jobs can be created following its successful tender to supply fibre cement roof slates for the UK market. The new contract will see a €1.5m investment and 29 jobs coming on stream.

"I am informed that new investment in machinery to make new slates for export will be taking place very quickly with 10 new jobs being created in May and almost 20 more in January. This will be of huge benefit to local employment considering the building and construction sector has suffered so much in recent years.

"I want to pay tribute to Paddy Kelly, Tegral's Managing Director, for the all the work has a done to secure this important contract. Workers are also to be commended for their commitment, flexibility and consistency in delivering high quality materials. This is a welcome announcement for Athy and the economy in Kildare."
