Letter bomb explodes at UUP HQ
A letter bomb has exploded at Ulster Unionist Party headquarters in east Belfast this morning.
The device, which was addressed to party leader David Trimble, partially detonated when it was opened, however no-one was injured and little damage was caused.
Police said the package included some matches attached to a video cassette.
East Londonderry assembly member David McClarty said security forces have told the party it was a "real" device. He said that those who carried out the attack had achieved nothing.
As yet, no-one has admitted responsibility for the device.

DUP and Sinn Fein leading in Assembly Elections
UPDATE: The Democratic Unionist Party and Sinn Fein hold the majority of seats in the Northern Ireland Assembly Election. The DUP and Sinn Fein emerged considerably ahead of the other parties with main losers the UUP dropping 9 seats to retain just 18 seats.

Rebel MP's set to retake whip
The Ulster Unionist Party's three rebel MP's are set to retake the party whip next week. Jeffrey Donaldson, David Burnside and the Rev Martin Smyth are said to have discussed the matter privately at a special meeting.

NORTHERN Ireland Secretary of State Dr John Reid has held talks with the province’s smaller pro-agreement political parties. He met the Alliance Party, the Progressive Unionist Party (PUP), the Ulster Democratic Party (UDP) and the Northern Ireland Women’s Coalition (NIWC).

Viable Device Found In North Belfast Linked To Hate Crime
A viable device found during a security alert in north Belfast is believed to be linked to a hate crime. Police and army bomb disposal experts attended the scene at Atlantic Avenue on Thursday, 25 August. A number of residents were evacuated from their homes, however they have since returned.

Suspicious Device Found In Antrim
A controlled explosion has been carried out on a suspicious device found in Co Antrim in the early hours of Thursday morning. Bomb disposal experts launched the security operation after the package was discovered at around 2am in a small wooded area on the Shore Road.
