NI House Prices Continue To Fall

Latest figures have revealed that the price of residential property prices are continuing to fall in Northern Ireland, but at a slower rate.

The Residential Property Price Index measures the change in the price of residential property sold in NI, and it found that over the year to the end of March 2013, residential property prices fell by 6%. This is in contrast to the previous year, when prices plummeted by 14%.

For the first three months of 2013, prices fell by 1%.

Currently, prices of residential property sold are now just under half of their peak value, with a 56% decline. It makes the average price of house in the north just under £109,000, according to the Land and Property Services (LPS) and the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (Nisra).

The report also revealed there were 3,216 verified residential Northern Ireland property sales recorded by HMRC in the first quarter of 2013 – a 1% increase over the number recorded in the first quarter of 2012.
