NIO launch public information website

The Northern Ireland public will be given a unique opportunity this week to comment on the makeup of a new government information website.

The website at www.onlineni.net aims to provide one-stop access to information on government and public services - everything from advice on benefits to information on how to tax your car.

At this year’s Balmoral Show, which runs from 14-16 May, as part of the ‘Northern Ireland Departments… Working For You’ exhibition, a special OnlineNI stand will feature computer terminals, through which members of the public will have an opportunity to access the site, give their opinion and provide feedback.

Commenting on the site, NIO Minister, Ian Pearson, MP, said: "OnlineNI is a user friendly, citizen focused website giving easy access to government and public services and information. Our involvement at the Balmoral Show is just too good an opportunity for us to miss to obtain the sort of feedback that is an essential element in keeping the site useful and relevant.

"Over the three days of the show thousands of people from all walks of life in Northern Ireland will make their way through the exhibits and we want to see as many of them as possible visit the OnlineNI stand. I am confident that they will be impressed by what they see, but would be equally sure that with their help we can make the site even better."

OnlineNI will providing access to over 1,800 websites through numerous links and will all provide access through information streams, such as Transport & Travel, Law & Justice, Benefits and Health.
