Man and child die in separate road accidents

A man and child have died in separate road accidents yesterday.

The man died after the motorcycle he was riding was in collision with a lorry on the Tandragee Road, Newry.

The motorcyclist, who was riding a Honda motorcycle, suffered serious injuries in the collision, which occurred around 7.30pm.

Meanwhile, the child died after being knocked down by a van near the Stewartstown Road in Coalisland at around lunchtime yesterday.

Police said that the four-year-old boy was struck by a Toyota Hi-ace van around 1.30pm at an area know as The Glen on the Stewartstown Road.

The driver of the van was also taken to hospital where he was treated for shock.

Neither victims names have been released.

Serious Road Crash In L'Derry
A serious road crash has occurred on the Chapel Road in L'Derry. A car and a motorbike where involved in the incident, according to the police. One man, believed to be a teenager, has been taken to hospital where his injuries are believed to be serious. The road has been closed at its junctions with Newlyn Terrace and Spencer Road.

Man Dies In Tyrone Farm Accident
The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) has launched an investigation after a man died in a farm accident in Co Tyrone. Emergency services were called to the farm in the Coolaghy Road area of Ardstraw on Sunday, 02 September. His death is not being treated as suspicious and a post-mortem is to be carried out.
