Masterplan For Ballymoney Progresses

Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland has launched a 12-week public consultation process on the draft Masterplan for Ballymoney town centre.

The aims of the masterplan are to provide strategic direction for the economic regeneration and development of Ballymoney town centre over the next 15 to 20 years.

It also includes new proposals for public realm and road improvements, a new single transport hub and the creation of a new public space area.

During a visit to Ballymoney, Mr McCausland said: "The draft Masterplan has identified a number of key proposals that will ensure that Ballymoney can grow and diversify to meet the demands that it currently face. This draft Masterplan will bring new life to Ballymoney whilst at the same time retaining the character and history of the town which is important to so many people.

"It is also very important that local people feel part of this and take this opportunity to have their say on the way forward for the draft Ballymoney Masterplan. I would encourage anyone with an interest in the town's future to let us know what they think of the proposals in the draft Masterplan over the next 12 weeks."

The town's masterplan was prepared for the Department of Social Development in partnership with the local council and other key stakeholders by a team of consultants from URS.
