Nine Arrested In Dissident Investigations

Nine men have been arrested in the Republic of Ireland as part of investigations into dissident republican activity in the Dublin area.

Officers from An Garda Síochána searched a house in Tallaght yesterday evening.

Eight men were arrested on suspicion of being members of an unlawful organisation.

The men's ages range from mid 20s to 40s.

They have been detained at various Garda stations in the west of Dublin.

A ninth man has been arrested by members of An Garda Síochána who searched a number of containers in a yard at Cloghran in County Dublin at about 4pm yesterday (Wednesday).

A quantity of ammunition and component parts of explosive substances were discovered during the search.

The 46-year-old was was arrested and is currently detained at Ballymun Garda Station.

Investigations are continuing.

Two Men Arrested On Suspicion Of Kidnapping
Police have arrested two men on suspicion of kidnapping. The males, aged 33 and 31, were detained in Co L'Derry. It is believed there arrests are in connection with an incident in the city on Thursday, 26 October. No further details have been released.

Three More Questioned Over Quinn Murder
Three men are being questioned by the PSNI about the brutal gang-murder of Co Armagh man Paul Quinn after three others were arrested by gardaí earlier. The three men arrested by the PSNI are from the Crossmaglen and Cullyhanna areas and while two are aged in their 50s, one is in his 20s.

Man Charged In Possession Of Heroin
A man is to appear in court charged in possession of heroin. Police arrested five people during searches of a property in Newry on Wednesday, 16 January. Two men have also been charged in possession of a Class A drug. A 50-year-old woman has also been charged with permitting premises to be used for the supply of a Class A drug.

Men Arrested In Connection With Right-Wing Extremism Released
Four men arrested in connection with right-wing extremism have been released. The men, aged 29, 30, 36 and 46, were arrested following house searches in Ballymena and Coleraine on Wednesday, 26 October. The men have been released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).

Man Arrested Following Lisburn Assault Released
A man arrested following an assault in Lisburn has been released on bail pending further enquiries, according to the PSNI. The 21-year-old was arrested following an incident in the Rathvarna Drive and Beechwood Grove area at around 1.30am on Tuesday, 12 July.
