Sudden Death Investigated

The PSNI is currently investigating the sudden death of a man in east Belfast on Sunday.

Police are still awaiting the results of a forensic test to determine the cause of death.

It has been reported that the incident is not thought to be in relation to the eight unexplained deaths across Northern Ireland in recent weeks.

Last Friday, police said no single killer drug was responsible for the deaths, following news reports of green tablets circulating around Northern Ireland.

Women Charged Over Hijacking

Two women have been charged in connection with a L'Derry hijacking.

The arrests follow an attack on Friday night at 22:00, during which a woman was forced from her car by a man armed with a knife in Clooney Terrace.

The man then drove off and picked up two women at an off license.

The car then crashed later on the road between Muff and Quigley's Point in County Donegal.

The man was arrested by Gardai.

SDLP Man Accuses SF Councillor Of Attack

An SDLP representative has accused a Sinn Féin councillor of assaulting him in Strabane, Co Tyrone.

The alleged incident is thought to have occurred at a bar in the Abercorn Square area at about 03:20 on Saturday morning.

Woman Convicted Over Benefit Fraud

A woman has been convicted at Banbridge Magistrates’ Court for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.

Annatres Keatings (28) of Rathfriland Street, Loughbrickland claimed Income Support, Carers Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £6,873 while failing to declare employment. She was given a four month suspended prison sentence.

She will have to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

Two Men Arrested Over Alleged Death Threats To Darren Kelly
Two men have been arrested over alleged death threats sent to Oldham manager Darren Kelly from Northern Ireland. Greater Manchester Police arrested a 27-year-old man and 42-year-old man on suspicion of making threats to kill. They are being detained by the police for questioning.

Woman Arrested After Sudden Death Of Man In L'Derry
A woman has been arrested following the sudden death of a man in Magherafelt. A 46-year-old man died in L'Derry in the early hours of Tuesday, 05 December. Police are treating the death as suspicious. A 32-year-old woman has been arrested and is assisting police with their enquiries.

Second Man Arrested Over Liverpool Hit-And-Run
A second man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run in Liverpool in which Co Antrim man Matthew Bradley was killed. The 33-year-old man was detained on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in Bradford. He has been conditionally bailed to appear in court in December, according to Merseyside Police.

Belfast And L'Derry Have Highest Premature Death Rates
The SDLP has hit out after it was revealed that deprived areas in Belfast and L'Derry have the highest premature death rates. SDLP Social Justice spokesperson Nichola Mallon said the "most vulnerable in our society are being failed". She also called for a standalone Anti-Poverty Strategy.
