JobsPlus Launch Welcomed

Dublin Bay North T.D. Seán Kenny has welcomed the launch of JobsPlus, the new employment scheme by Minister for Social Protection, Joan Burton.

She said: "JobsPlus is an incentive scheme which is designed to help our long-term unemployed get back to work. Crucially, it allows employers to get a little bit of help in terms of being able to pay workers a decent wage.

"JobsPlus is a scheme badly needed by those who find themselves without work for an extended period of time, and who have excellent skills to contribute to society. This programme gives an opportunity to get people back to work, which will stimulate the economy, and help businesses, workers and families across the nation, and I want to pay tribute to Minister Burton who has been working very hard to deliver for ordinary people.

"Together with the Action Plan for Jobs, which is targeting support to help growing industries as well as the Strategic Investment Fund, which is providing funds from the National Pension Reserve Fund to invest in areas of the economy that have greatest commercial and employment potential, Labour in Government is genuinely pushing to get Ireland back on track towards full economic recovery."
