Man Bailed Over L'Derry Murder

A 48-year-old man who was arrested in relation to a murder in L'Derry four years ago, has been released on bail.

On Monday (22 July), the man was arrested by detectives from the Serious Crime Branch as part of an investigations into the murder of James McConnell in 2009.

Mr McConnell, 38, was shot dead by two masked men at his home in Woodland Avenue in L'Derry on 11 February 2009.

The suspect, who was taken to the Serious Crime Suite at Antrim Police Station for questioning, was also questioned about a shooting incident in Feeny in 2004 when a shotgun was fired at a house.

The man was released on bail pending the outcome of forensic tests on a number of items which were seized during searches carried out in the Dungiven area yesterday.

Man Released On Bail Over Lurgan Murder
A man arrested in connection with a murder in Lurgan on Sunday, 06 August, has been released on bail pending further enquiries. The body of a man, aged 45, was discovered at a flat on Victoria Street. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Second Man Arrested Over Liverpool Hit-And-Run
A second man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run in Liverpool in which Co Antrim man Matthew Bradley was killed. The 33-year-old man was detained on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in Bradford. He has been conditionally bailed to appear in court in December, according to Merseyside Police.
