Royal Mail To Recruit 400 Seasonal Staff

Royal Mail has said it is to recruit 400 temporary staff in Northern Ireland to help with the additional workload expected at Christmas.

A total of 21,000 seasonal workers are to be hired throughout the UK to help over the holiday period.

The temporary posts will be available across a variety of shifts and will come into force between November 2013 and early January 2014.

The jobs will support the company's 124,000 permanent post workers who sort and deliver the mail all year round, including the Christmas period which is the busiest time of year for the postal service.

It is understood the new workers will help to sort post before they go to around 1,400 delivery offices for postmen and women to take out on their rounds.

Royal Mail will be recruiting in its mail centre in Newtownabbey as well as its operations in Donegall Quay in Belfast.

A page for people to apply for the positions is available on the Royal Mail website.
