Newry Stabbing Being Treated As Murder
Police have said a stabbing incident in Newry is being treated as attempted murder.
The incident occurred in the Talbot Street area of the city on Saturday evening, around 6pm.
The victim was taken to hospital after being slashed in the face. He has since been released from hospital.
A 37-year-old woman was arrested in relation to the incident. She was detained on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon, with intent to commit and indictable offence. However, a statement released by police on Sunday evening said the woman had been rearrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
She has been released on bail as police enquiries continue.

Three Arrested Over Attempted Murder Of Police Officers In Strabane
Three people have been arrested in Strabane in connection with the attempted murder of two police officers in the town in November 2022. Detectives from the Terrorism Investigation Unit arrested two women, aged 25 and 27, and one man, aged 51, under the Terrorism Act. They have been taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite for questioning.

Three In Hospital After Police Vehicle Collides With Another Vehicle
Two police officers and a civilian remain in hospital following a collision in Newry on Saturday, 13 April. It is understood that the police officers were travelling in a police vehicle to attend a separate incident at about 7.30pm when they collided with another vehicle on the Fathom Road.

A 59-year-old man has been arrested at Birmingham Airport in connection with a fatal mortar attack in Newry in 1992. The man was arrested on Wednesday, 21 February by detectives from PSNI's Legacy Investigation Branch, investigating the murder of Constable Colleen McMurray and the attempted murder of her colleague in 1992.
