Men Charged Over Dungannon Arson Attack

Eleven men have been charged by detectives investigating an arson attack at a house in Dungannon, County Tyrone.

The arrests follow an incident on the evening of Friday 27 September, when a group of men forced their way into a house in the Springdale area of the town.

At about 21:50, it was reported that a large group of men had forced their way into a house with five males inside.

It is believed the five males remained upstairs in the house whilst extensive damage was caused downstairs.

Materials were gathered in the hall and set alight before the group of men left the area in several vehicles.

Police stopped the vehicles a short time later at separate locations.

Twelve men were arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and arson with intent to endanger life.

Eleven of the men have now been charged. They are due to appear in court in Omagh.

The twelfth man has been released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
