Bombardier To Carry Out R&D Project

Alliance East Belfast MP Naomi Long has welcomed the decision by the Government and the Executive to approve a business case for a £120m Research and Development (R&D) project at Bombardier Aerospace in Belfast.

It is believed that this project will create more than 230 jobs.

The announcement was made in a progress report on the Government and NI Executive economic package 'Building a Prosperous and United Community'.

Naomi Long MP said: "This is fantastic news that the business case for this R&D project has been approved. It is another vote of confidence in the highly skilled and dedicated workforce at the East Belfast factory.

"This project will help boost the East Belfast and wider Northern Ireland economy. The jobs that will be created are exactly the kind of highly skilled, value-added jobs which Northern Ireland needs to sustain and grow if we are to rebalance our economy.

"Bombardier are continuing Belfast's proud industrial heritage and this project shows the company's commitment to their East Belfast site."
