Patient's life put at risk as cardiac ambulance attacked

Police in Londonderry are appealing for information after an ambulance was attacked as it transported an emergency cardiac patient to hospital at the weekend.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning when a youth threw a childs’ scooter in front of the vehicle. The ambulance was travelling along the Madams Bank Road at the time when it was forced to stop.

Police were called to the scene and managed to rush the patient and paramedics to hospital in a police vehicle. There were no reports of injuries however the patient's life was put at risk because of the incident.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.
