64 Jobs Announced For Sainsbury's Upgrade

64 jobs are to be created at a Sainsbury's supermarket in L'Derry as a result of a multi-million pound upgrade and new online delivery service.

The move will bring the total number employed at the Strand Road store to 300.

150 seasonal roles across stores in Northern Ireland have also been announced, to help Sainsbury's cope with extra demand over Christmas.

The upgrade work on the Strand Road store is due to be completed in November and will result in closure from 5 - 12 November.

Nigel Macaulay, Regional Operations Manager for Sainsbury's, said: "We are delighted to be bringing additional employment to the north-west through our Strand Road store and indeed across Northern Ireland through our seasonal recruitment process.

"We have been listening to the needs of our customers in the northwest and it is fantastic to be able to now provide the Derry/Londonderry area with an online shopping service which will be launching on 20th November as well as an extended and upgraded store offering."
