Man Robs L'Derry Takeaways With Hammer
A masked man has robbed two takeaway restaurants in L'Derry with a hammer.
The incident began on Monday evening at about 19:20, when the man broke into two vehicles in the Lenamore Road area before leaving in another vehicle.
Then, at about 19:40, a man damaged a front window of a fast food restaurant at the Culmore Road area with a hammer.
He then entered another takeaway restaurant in the area, again armed with a hammer.
A member of staff was threatened during the incident, but was not harmed.
The man then left in a car that was driven by another male towards the Shantallow area.
Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them at Strand Road police station.
Car Breaker Fined Over Licence Breach
A Ballynahinch car breaker has been fined a total of £1,913 at Downpatrick Magistrates’ Court for storing end of life vehicles and parts without the appropriate waste management licence.
50-year-old Ralph Jess, trading as Railway Auto Spares of Ballylone Road, Ballynahinch, pleaded guilty to waste offending.
The charge attracted a fine of £1,000. In addition, Mr Jess was instructed to pay a compensation order of £913, court costs of £10 and an offender’s levy of £15.
Two Month Sentence For 'Clocked' Car Dealer
A Downpatrick car dealer who sold three 'clocked' cars has been given a two month sentence, suspended for two years, and ordered to pay a total of £1,750 compensation to two of his victims at Downpatrick Magistrates’ Court.
Mr David Gregge, from Rocks Chapel Road, Downpatrick, pleaded guilty to three charges of fraud and a further four charges under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations.
This case came about following a routine investigation into the sale of clocked vehicles in Northern Ireland. Investigations revealed that Mr Gregge purchased cars with high mileages from an auto trade centre in Belfast and then sold them with lower mileages. He advertised the vehicles for sale on various websites with lower mileages.
Galgorm Extension Approved
Planning approval has been granted for an extension to Galgorm Resort and Spa in County Antrim.
The approval is for 48 additional bedrooms and a new leisure suite, comprising a swimming pool and gym.
Environment Minister Mark H Durkan said: "This is good news for Ballymena and the surrounding area. The new addition to this award winning resort will benefit tourism in mid-Antrim, providing high quality accommodation in an area that is the gateway to the Glens of Antrim and the scenic north coast."

Murdered Man Found In Car
A murder investigation has been launched after the body of a man was found in a car in County Down. The man has been named locally as Philip Strickland,36. He was found in a car on Quarry Road, off the Ballydrain Road, near Comber on Wednesday. It is understood that the murder took place around 21.

NCP awarded contract to enforce parking restrictions
The government has today announced the National Car Parks Ltd (NCP) has been awarded the contract for enforcing parking restrictions in Northern Ireland. This will allow the transfer of responsibility for parking enforcement from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) to the Department for Regional Development, in the Autumn.
