Lord Mayor appeals for information on missing men
The newly-elected Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Martin Morgan, has appealed for those responsible for the disappearance of two men in Belfast and Armagh to get in contact with the victims families.
Councillor Morgan made the call as police continued to search for Shankill man Alan McCullough who went missing last week.
McCullough went missing shortly after returning to Northern Ireland after being forced out of the country during the recent UDA feud.
The Lord Mayor also highlighted the plight of another family in Amagh who are going through a similar plight.
Gareth O'Connor from Armagh went missing three weeks ago. Sources believe he may have been abducted by the Provisional IRA because of alleged links with the Real IRA.
The Lord Mayor said: “Regardless of the accusations and counter accusations which we hear regarding these two young men, their families know nothing of their whereabouts. It is absolutely intolerable that any family should experience such suffering, pain and anguish.”
