13 Rescued From 'Deliberate' L'Derry Fire
Thirteen people, including a one-year-old baby, have escaped from a block of flats in L'Derry that is suspected to have been started deliberately.
The fire began in a communal area of the two-storey property in the Carnhill area before 06:30 this morning.
Four fire engines were alerted to the scene and crews managed to bring the fire under control by 07:40.
NIFRS area commander Trevor Ferguson told the BBC that, while it was as yet unclear, the fire could potentially have been started deliberately.
The fire service team assisted five people to safety while a number of other residents had escaped on their own.
Detectives have asked anyone who witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact police at Strand Road.

NI's Chief Fire Officer Announces His Retirement
The Chief Fire Officer for Northern Ireland, Peter Craig, has announced that he is to retire after over 35 years of distinguished Service. Peter Craig is one of the longest serving officers in Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service and was appointed as Chief Fire Officer in February 2011, having been the acting Chief from July 2010.

An English-born firefighter has been awarded €5,000 in compensation for discrimination by Limerick City Council. An Equality Tribunal heard Martin Mannering, now living in Cappamore, Co Limerick was left a note to leave his job because he was no longer "in Middlesbrough".
