David Black Murder - Man Released Without Charge

A man who was being held by police in the Republic of Ireland in connection with the murder of prison officer David Black on 1 November last year has been released without charge.

The 51-year-old male was arrested and detained at Ballyconnell Garda Station on Monday 2 December 2013.

A second male, 34 years, arrested in connection with the same investigation, remains in Garda custody at Cavan Garda Station.

The arrests were made by Gardaí in connection with an investigation into dissident republican activities.

David Black, a prison officer at Maghaberry Prison in Lurgan, County Armagh, was shot on the M1 between Portadown and Lurgan as he drove to work.

A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions over the man who was released.

The 34-year-old man is still being questioned about the murder.

Paula, 52, was last seen on Tuesday 5th March on CCTV cameras leaving the Sprucefield Court area of Lisburn at 5.30pm, before making her way to Warren Gardens at around 5.36pm.

Prisoner Dies At Maghaberry
A prisoner has died in custody at Maghaberry jail. The Northern Ireland Prison Service (NIPS) said the 57-year-old man passed away on Thursday morning, 28 September. His next of kin have been informed and an investigation has been launched.
