Fujitsu Announces 192 New Posts

Sinn Féin MLA Maeve McLaughlin has welcomed the announcement by Fujitsu of 192 new full-time jobs at its Timber Quay, L'Derry operation said that it is a major boost for the local economy and an opportunity for new workforce entrants, presently unemployed and graduates alike.

Maeve McLaughlin said: "I welcome this job announcement by Fujitsu of the creation of 192 full-time jobs including 15 apprenticeship positions at its Derry premises. It is great news and will bolster the already positive atmosphere created by the success of the Year of Culture.

"As a frequent critic of Invest NI when investment does not come to the North West I must now take this opportunity to congratulate it, on helping through assistance of over £900,000, to deliver these much needed jobs.

"Martin McGuinness and Peter Robinson have just returned from Japan where among other business leaders they met with Fujitsu’s President Masami Yamamoto. I have no doubt that this meeting helped to cement this decision.

"It is noteworthy also, that the jobs to be created will be across a wide range of abilities including Business Support Services; Hosting of Network Services, End User Services, Business Applications Support, Finance and Human Resources. And Importantly 15 new Fujitsu Business Apprenticeships will form part of the 192 new Jobs to be created."
