Condolence Book Opened For Bomb Victim
A book of condolence is to be opened in Limavady, County Londonderry for Simon Chase, a Northern Ireland citizen who was killed in a suicide bomb attack in Afghanistan on Friday.
The proposal to open the book was unanimously backed by all political parties at Tuesday night's Limavady Borough Council meeting.
Mr Chase was among 21 people killed in a restaurant attack in Kabul.
Two Vehicles Involved In Co Down Crash
Two vehicles have been involved in a crash described as 'serious' in Comber, County Down.
The accident occurred on the Killinchy Road on Wednesday morning.
A man and woman have been taken to the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald, County Down, for treatment.
The road was closed between Ardmillan Road and Ballyminstragh Road for a time, but has since reopened.
Man Arrested Over Armed Robberies
A man has been arrested in relation to an armed robbery and two other attempted armed robberies in north Belfast on Tuesday.
An off licence was robbed and an attempted robbery carried out on a restaurant and a shop in the Crumlin Road area of the city.
No-one was injured in any of the incidents.
The 29-year-old male was arrested on Wednesday morning.
Four Convicted Over Benefit Fraud
Four people were convicted at Belfast Magistrates’ Court yesterday for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.
50-year-old James Maguire of Upper Stanfield Street, Belfast claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £12,156 while failing to declare employment.
He was given 80 hours community service, a one year probation order and ordered to pay court costs of £40.
Carol Irwin, 50, of Highpark Drive, Belfast claimed Jobseekers Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £10,166 while failing to declare employment. She was given a 15-month prison sentence suspended for two years and ordered to pay court costs of £40.
58-year-old Theresa Lynch of Richmond Road, Newtownabbey claimed Income Support and Rates totalling £5,716 while failing to declare capital. She was given a two-month prison sentence suspended for one year and ordered to pay court costs of £37.
John Magennis, 28, of Fallswater Street, Belfast was given a three month prison sentence suspended for two years and ordered to pay court costs of £22 for wrongful encashment of Disability Living Allowance totalling £275. Mr Magennis has repaid the money wrongfully obtained in full to the Social Security Agency.

Robert Lee (34) of Commedagh Drive, Belfast was given 80 hours community service and ordered to pay court costs of £22 for wrongful encashment of Jobseekers Allowance totalling £302.
