Appeal Over Newry Tiger Kidnapping

Detectives in Newry are appealing for information following a tiger kidnapping in the South Down area.

The incident began at about 20:30 on Sunday 2 March, when a number of males forced entry to a house in Smalls Road, Warrenpoint.

A 57-year-old woman was ordered to visit a jewellery shop in Warrenpoint and retrieve a number of items.

A 53-year-old man and 20-year-old woman were held captive during the ordeal. All three victims were then abandoned in a field in the Mayobridge area.

The kidnappers made off from the area in an unknown vehicle.

Police said the family have been left shaken and distressed by their ordeal.

Detectives are appealing to anyone in the Warrenpoint/Burren and Mayobridge areas who noticed any type of suspicious activity, including cars or vehicles acting in a suspicious way, between 19:30 and 22:00 to contact them immediately at Ardmore Police Station on 0845 600 8000.
