Bomb Explodes Inside Parked Car

Police in L'Derry have reported that a bomb exploded inside a parked car on Wednesday night.

It is understood that the bomb exploded inside the car, which was parked in the residential area of Carrickreagh Gardens, in the Creggan area at about 22:45. No-one was injured in the explosion.

Residents were evacuated for up to six hours while bomb experts examined the scene and police searched the area.

Newtownabbey House Targeted In Petrol Bomb Attack
A house in Newtownabbey was the target of a petrol bomb attack on Monday evening, 15 October. The attack happened in the Plantation Avenue area of the town shortly after 10pm. The windows of the house and a car parked outside both had scorch damage. No one was injured in the attack, however it is understood residents were left shaken.

Lisburn On Alert As Pipe Bomb Explodes
There's an ongoing security alert in progress in Lisburn, Co Antrim after a pipe bomb device exploded at 9.30am this morning. A family escaped injury in the blast and the PSNI have said this afternoon that is not clear if the explosion occurred when the car drove over it, or that it had fallen off the vehicle.

Omagh Families To Meet Villiers
Some of the families of those killed in the 1998 Omagh bombing are to meet Secretary of State Teresa Villiers today (Wednesday). The meeting, which is due to be held at Hillsborough, comes after she said no public inquiry would be held into the tragedy.

Real IRA suspect faces explosion charges
A suspected republican terrorist is expected to appear in court today charged with conspiracy to cause an explosion. The charge against the 24-year-old man is believed to relate to an explosion at Stewartstown police station in July 2000. No-one was injured in the 250lb car bomb blast which damaged businesses and homes in the surrounding area.

House Damaged In Petrol Bomb Attack In Larne
An investigation has been launched after a petrol bomb attack on a house in Larne, Co Antrim. A device is believed to have been thrown through the front door of a property in the Craigy Hill area on Thursday, 07 June. Extensive damage was caused and the neighbouring property was also damaged.
