Lisburn Thieves Locked Victims In Rooms

Police have said they believe there is a link to two burglaries that occurred in Lisburn on Friday.

On Friday night, a family of four had their house targeted by thieves. Four masked men entered their property on the Laurelhill Road, Lisburn, at around 9.30pm. They threatened the family and locked them in a room before the gang escaped with money and jewellery.

The second incident happened shortly after midnight in the Glenavy Road area of the city.

A pensioner in his 70s awoke to find two men in his bedroom. They were both armed, and one is thought to have had a suspected firearm.

The man was bound and locked in a room.

The two men are believed to have made off without taking anything.

Police have appealed for information.

Six Arrests Over Larne Disorder

A sixth person has now been arrested in connection with disturbances in Larne last month.

A 44-year-old man was arrested in Larne on Monday by detectives investigating paramilitary disorder in the town.

During the violence, which happened on 30 March, a crowd of up to 100 people attacked homes and vehicles in the Knockdhu Park and Ferris Avenue areas.

Police have blamed a branch of the loyalist UDA on the trouble.

The other arrests include a 32 and 41-year-old man. They are both still being questioned by police.

Two other men have been released unconditionally, while a 22-year-old woman arrested on Sunday has been released pending a report to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Teenagers' Car Hijacked By Gunmen

Two men, believed to have been armed with a gun and a knife, have threatened three teenagers during a hijacking in Co L'derry.

The incident happened in the Strand Road area of the city at around 2.50am on Sunday.

The teenagers, all aged 19, were sitting in a parked red Volkswagen Golf when a white Seat Leon pulled up alongside. Two men got out of the vehicle and forced the teenagers out of their car.

The hijackers then fled the scene in the Golf. The Leon was driven off by a third person.

Both vehicles headed in the direction of Culmore Road.

No one was injured in the incident.
