15 Expressions Of Interest In Shared Education Campuses Programme
News that 15 expressions of interest have been lodged with the Department under the Shared Education Campuses Programme has been welcomed by Education Minister John O'Dowd.
The Minister launched the Shared Education Campuses Programme in January, with a deadline of 31 March for receipt for expressions of interest. Under the Executive's 'Together: Building a United Community' initiative, a target has been set of commencing work on 10 campuses within the next five years.
Commenting on the interest, the Minister said: "The Shared Education Campuses Programme provides schools with the opportunity to build on existing sharing arrangements and access funding to help improve or provide shared facilities.
"I know that over recent months there has been a great deal of interest in advancing opportunities for shared education facilities which has resulted in the number of expressions of interest we have now received.
"The proposals submitted will be assessed over the coming weeks with a view to the successful projects being announced before the summer break. It is anticipated that work will begin on the construction of the campuses by 2016."
The expressions of interest that have been received are as follows:
• Moy Regional PS and St John's PS, Moy
• Cookstown PS and Holy Trinity PS, Cookstown
• Newtownhamilton HS and St Paul's HS Bessbrook, along with St Joseph's HS, Newry and Newry HS
• Limavady HS and St Mary's Limavady
• Brookeborough PS and St Mary's PS, Brookeborough
• Duneane PS, Toomebridge and Moneynick PS, Randalstown
• Ballycastle HS and Cross and Passion College, Ballycastle
• St Vincent de Paul PS and Ligoniel PS, Belfast
• St Malachy's College along with Belfast Royal Academy and Carr's Glen PS, Belfast
• Educational and Community Village Consensus, Armagh
• Seaview Enterprises, Belfast
• Alternative Education Providers Forum – 31 schools across the Belfast, South Eastern and North Eastern Education and Library Board areas
• North Belfast STEM Centre – Hazelwood Integrated College and 16 other schools from the Belfast and North Eastern Education and Library Board areas
• Coleraine Educational Village
• Sperrin Integrated College, Magherafelt.

Heavy Snow Closes Over 80 Schools
Over 80 schools across Northern Ireland have been closed as the heavy snow continues to cause disruption on Tuesday morning. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, as the snow is continuing to affect many roads. Areas which have been majorly disrupted include Lisburn, Castlereagh and Carryduff.

£45m Allocated To 18 NI Schools
Northern Ireland's new Education Minister has committed £45 million to 18 local schools in need of investment.
