50% Increase In Needle Exchange Scheme Use

There has been a 50% increase in the number of needles issued by a needle exchange scheme in the last four years.

The project, coordinated by the Public Health Agency, supplies new clean needles to intravenous drug users.

Figures show that in 2012, 213,295 needles were given out during 21,220 visits to the scheme. This is up from 135,700 needles in 2008/09, and 13,389 visits.

Job Cuts At City Of Derry Airport

Jobs are to be cut at City of Derry Airport as part of a cost-cutting drive.

According to the BBC, the airport's chairman has confirmed that five senior posts have already been cut, with four further job losses to follow.

Falling passenger numbers have been blamed for the cuts.

Job Fears As Liquidator Appointed To Bus Company

Concerns have been raised over the future of 80 jobs at the Lough Swilly bus company, following the appointment of a liquidator.

The Unite union, who are due to meet with management later today, has said that events have moved quickly over the past few days and fears are growing for the future of the company.

No official statement has been made by the bus company about the current situation.

Belfast International Airport Serves 5.9m Passengers In 2023
Latest figures show that 2023 was a successful year for Belfast International Airport as it served 5.9 million passengers. Annual traffic results published by VINCI Airports show that there were almost 50,000 total aircraft movements at Belfast International in 2023, which is an increase of 23 per cent on 2022 figures.
