Belfast Firm Targets Opportunities Across The UK And US

AquaQ Analytics in Belfast is targeting opportunities across the UK, US and European Financial Services sector following a range of support from Invest Northern Ireland.

The company provides specialist data management, data analytics and data mining services to clients operating within the capital markets and other sectors. In recent years AquaQ Analytics has benefited from Invest NI support to expand its workforce and undertake a skills training programme with part funding from the European Regional Development Fund.

AquaQ Analytics has recruited 22 high quality IT and Finance posts since incorporation in 2011, 15 of which were supported by Invest NI.

Following a visit to the company's offices, Ian Murphy, Invest NI's Director of Growth and Scaling said: "This is an ambitious and fast growing company at the forefront of sophisticated technology for the global financial services industry. We are helping the company market its enterprise internationally and providing support towards training.

"Financial services is a priority sector for Invest NI and it will benefit significantly from the investment in the data analytical expertise that AquaQ Analytics is now developing and marketing."

Patisserie Valerie Buy Out Saves 60 NI Jobs
Two out of three Patisserie Valerie cake shops in Belfast have been saved after an Irish firm stepped in to buy-out the company. The purchase by Dublin-based Causeway Capital Partners of 96 branches of the café chain safeguards 60 jobs in Northern Ireland and around 2,000 positions UK-wide.

Coleraine Based Insurance Firm Announces Expansion & Recruitment Drive
An online insurance company based in Coleraine has announced plans to create 10 new jobs in the next six months as part of a major expansion plan. MCL InsureTech hopes to create a further 50 jobs over the next three to five years as it aims to replicate its success over the last 10 years in the Republic of Ireland market.

HMV Belfast Survives Company Takeover
HMV's Belfast store in Donegall Arcade has been saved following a company takeover by Canadian retailer Sunrise Records. Sunrise bought the company out of administration, and announced plans to close 27 of the outlet's 127 UK stores. The 27 stores, which include London's flagship Oxford Street shop, will close with immediate effect.
