Resurfacing Work To Start In Strabane

Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has announced the start of a £265,000 major resurfacing scheme on a section of A5 Victoria Road, the main Strabane to Londonderry road.

Road works are due to start on 2 June from the Victoria Road/Woodend Road junction for a distance of 1 kilometre going north along the A5 Victoria Road to approximately 200metres North of the Woodend fly over.

The Minister said: "This scheme will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of the carriageway on this section of trunk road between Strabane and Londonderry."

Due to the restricted carriageway width available on the Victoria Road, and to help minimise any potential conflict between the site works and through traffic, it will be necessary to close the section of road for two weeks. The closure is planned for Monday 9 June up to and including Sunday 22 June 2014. Both northbound and Southbound traffic will be diverted onto the B49 Woodend Road. Local access will be retained.

The scheme is expected to be substantially completed on Friday 27 June 2014.
