TES (NI) celebrate achieving IIP status

Staff at Cookstown-based, control panel manufacturing and project engineering company, TES (NI), are celebrating the fruits of their labour following the recent Investors In People (IIP) recognition for the firm.

Hillsborough Castle in County Down was the venue chosen by the NI Investors In People Quality Centre for the induction of its latest members to the Investors In People standard.

At the awards ceremony Company Directors, Mr Brian Taylor and Mr Noel McCracken, received the official IIP plaque and certification from NIO Minoster, Ms Jane Kennedy.

In addition to TES (NI), approximately 35 Northern Ireland organizations were in attendance, and each received official recognition of their unwavering dedication to their staff and the enhancement of their skills in the workplace.

"It is clear that TES (NI) is reaping the benefits of its Investors In People (IIP) accreditation," said Brian Taylor, Managing Director of TES (NI), as he congratulated the staff for their effort that led to IIP accreditation.

He said: “As a company we are constantly looking at areas to improve staff competence and offer a wide range of courses applicable to the entire workforce. Our approach has always centred on the fact that the company is here for the benefit of all of its employees. Manufacturing technology has become increasingly sophisticated so we have an extensive on-going programme of training. This is a big commitment for us, but, given the capital employed in the new facilities, it was vital to make sure we were gaining maximum benefit. Most importantly, our philosophy is that our staff are our most valuable asset; we employ high quality people, and then try to make sure they feel very much part of the company.”

Noel McCracken, Company Director, explained the positive impact of the process of accreditation: “In the last couple of years we have been through a period of dramatic change. We have relocated to larger premises and increased staff numbers. As new processes have been put in place, employee motivation and skills have subsequently amplified. All members of staff now receive the same standard of training and an induction period has been introduced for new recruits to allow for a familiarisation process prior to beginning their new role. On initiating their employment, each new recruit is also assigned a mentor who will act as their point of reference for the first six months of their employment.”

He said that the attainment of the standard only marked the beginning for TES (NI), and had laid only the preliminary foundations for building on the solid framework provided by the Investors In People Standard.
