Ericsson To Create 120 New Jobs
Ericsson has said it is to expand its Irish operations by creating 120 new jobs.
Recruitment for the new roles will start immediately.
The software company has said the roles will be for its sites in Dublin and Athlone and the highly-skilled roles will range from software developers and solution architects to programme managers and consultants. A number of these roles are in Ericsson's recently acquired TV business unit, Mediaroom. In addition, some of the roles will also be offered to graduates from Ericsson-sponsored MSc programmes in DIT and AIT. They are the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) MSc in Applied Software Technology and the Athlone Institute of Technology MSc in Applied Software Engineering.
The Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, through IDA Ireland, is supporting the investment.
Traoloch Collins, Ericsson's Managing Director in Ireland, said: "We are looking for highly-skilled people who want to work in a dynamic and creative environment. I am enormously proud of our team here in Ireland and the opportunity to grow even further.
"Ireland is a major research and development hub for Ericsson globally. We have a track record of ingenuity, with 87 patents developed in Ireland over the past five years."
Richard Bruton TD, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, added: "The announcement that Ericsson is creating 120 additional jobs this year in Dublin and Athlone is a further boost for the country and for the ICT sector in particular.
"ICT is a sector which we have specifically targeted as part of our Action Plan for Jobs, and we have put in place measures to support jobs growth in this area. In recent years we have seen jobs growth in this sector, and I am determined to keep making the changes to support further growth in the coming years."
Barry O'Leary, CEO, IDA Ireland, commented: "Ericsson has long been an integral part of the ICT sector in Ireland since it first set up an operation here in 1957. Ericsson provides excellent career opportunities to both graduates and experienced ICT professionals.

Ericsson Ireland Axes 300 Dublin Jobs
Multinational Telecoms firm Ericsson has chopped 300 jobs at its plant in Clonskeagh, Dublin. The jobs are to go over the next 18 months as part of a scaling down of the research and development department. Ericsson Ireland said the job losses would place on a phased basis over the next eighteen months.
