David Black Murder - Charges Dropped

Police have said that charges have been dropped against a man arrested over the murder of prison officer David Black, who was shot dead on his way to Maghaberry Prison in November 2012.

Sean McVeigh, of Victoria Street in Lurgan, County Armagh, was charged with his murder and also with possessing an assault rifle with the intent to endanger life. The charges have now been dropped.

52-year-old David Black was shot as he drove to work on the M1 in County Armagh on 1 November.

The attack made Mr Black the first prison officer to be murdered in Northern Ireland in 20 years.

A republican paramilitary group calling itself 'the IRA' admitted the killing.
