PSNI Appeal Over Ormeau Bridge Stabbing

The PSNI has launched an appeal for information following the stabbing of a man in the Ormeau Bridge area of Belfast in the early hours of Saturday 12 July.

Detectives in the south of the city are investigating the incident, which was reported to police at about 03:10. Reports said a man had been stabbed and that rival factions were fighting in the area.

The 28-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.

Police said officers attended the area and the two groups were separated at approximately 03:30. Officers stayed in the area for several hours after the incident to ensure the area remained calm.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact CID in Musgrave Police Station on the non emergency number 101. The independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Two men die in separate stabbing incidents
Two people have been killed in separate stabbing incidents in Northern Ireland over the weekend. Hugh McKibben, 51, of Main Street in Carrowdore died in a stabbing incident at a house on Inisharoan Court about midnight on Sunday May 5. Four people were arrested following his murder but three have since been released on police bail.

The PSNI have welcomed a two-year Stalking Protection Order (SPO) handed down to a 46-year-old Belfast man at Belfast Magistrates Court. The man had been found guilty of stalking and harassing his 50-year-old female ex-partner.

Man Jailed For Manslaughter Of David James Conville
A 31-year-old man has been jailed at Belfast Crown Court for the manslaughter of David James Conville in south Belfast in May, 2022. Edward Kelly was sentenced to serve three-and-a-half years, half of his sentence will be served in custody and half will be served on licence, following his guilty plea last November.

Man Arrested After Using Van To Attack Police Officers
The PSNI has condemned an incident in which a man used a van to repeatedly ram a police patrol car and attempted to run over an officer in Newry on Saturday, 03 February. Shortly after 11:20pm, officers on patrol approached a man standing beside a white Peugeot van in the Castlekeele Estate area.
