Skipper Fined For Keeping 'Undersized' Lobsters
A Portavogie skipper has been convicted of retaining five "undersized lobsters" at Newtownards Magistrates' Court, the Executive has announced.
Stephen Palmer of 1 Hillside, Portavogie, County Down, is the owner of the Victoria Leigh N70 vessel, on which the undersized shellfish were caught.
He was fined £300 plus court costs of £40.
Co. Westmeath Teen 'Could Be In NI'
A teenage girl from County Westmeath has been missing since Thursday and is thought to be in Northern Ireland.
14-year-old Kirsty Salmon is living in the Mullingar area, but may have travelled to Northern Ireland as she is known to frequent Downpatrick, Belfast and Lisburn, according to police.
She is described as being 5ft 4in tall, of slim build, with dark hair and pale skin.
The PSNI has appealed for anyone with any information to come forward.
Teenager 'Critical' Following Road Crash
A 17-year-old girl is in a critical condition in hospital after she was involved in a road crash in County Antrim.
The two-vehicle collision occurred on the Slaughterford Road in Whitehead on Monday night.
The Slaughterford Road has reopened after it was closed on Tuesday morning.
Whiteabbey Resurfacing To Begin
Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has announced the commencement of a £130,000 resurfacing capital scheme at Shore Road, Whiteabbey Village in Belfast.
"The resurfacing works which started today will cause some inconvenience and disruption to road users and local businesses," a statement from the Department for Regional Development said.
"In order to minimise the impact on this heavily trafficked road, the works have been programmed for the summer months when the schools are off and traffic flows are at their lowest."
Lane closures will operate from Monday 11 August to Friday 15 August from 08:00-18:00.
Full road closure will be necessary from Monday 18 August to Friday 22 August from 08:00-18:00 for carriageway resurfacing. During this period diversions will operate Circular Road and Jordanstown Road.
The scheme is expected to be completed by Friday 29 August 2014.
