30 Firms Benefit From Fastest Internet Connection Speeds

Thirty Belfast businesses, including a provider of interactive advertising to Google and Disney, are set to benefit from access to some of the fastest internet connection speeds in the world through a new business deal.

Speeds of one-gigabyte-per-second are available to Ormeau Business Park tenants such as rehabstudio, which also has offices in London and New York, following Novosco installing its Cloudstream offering there this month.

The Belfast-headquartered IT infrastructure and connectivity specialist has signed up the Gasworks-based business park as part of the Belfast City Council Superconnected Voucher Scheme, of which Novosco is a preferred supplier. This utilises funding from the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to help increase access to superfast broadband.

Novosco has invested significantly to be able to offer superfast connection speeds, including in installing its own fibre-optic ring in Belfast, and in a strategic alliance with Hibernia Atlantic, the organisation responsible for the deployment of Project Kelvin.

Novosco Director, John Lennon, said: "By providing each business with vouchers of up to £3,000, the Superconnected Belfast scheme is helping them to access some of the fastest internet connection speeds available anywhere for costs starting at about £10 per month.

"Belfast City Council provides the vouchers to cover the cost of installation and the firms then pay a modest rental fee. Ormeau Business Park will be one of the first business parks to fully benefit from the scheme, adding value to the park and providing a boost for tenants."
