IRA Victims' Memorial Vandalised
A memorial to three Scottish soldiers murdered by the IRA in north Belfast has been vandalised with paint.
The Royal British Legion said it is the 14th time the memorial has been attacked, the last incident having occurred four weeks ago.
Paint was thrown over the front and back of the memorial, which is situated at White Brae on the Ligoniel Road.
The memorial was erected in 2009 as a tribute to John and Joseph McCaig, two teenage brothers, and their 23-year-old colleague Dougald McCaughey.
The three men were lured to the area while off duty and shot dead by the IRA on 10 March 1971.
Alliance Justice spokesperson Stewart Dickson said: "That this memorial has again become the target of vandals is absolutely outrageous and must be stopped. This disrespectful act will have caused further pain to the families of the three victims.
"I appeal to those behind these incidents to stop. The friends and families of the victims deserve to be able to remember their loved ones in peace and without fear of intimidation. I would urge anyone with information to contact the PSNI as soon as possible."
