Men Arrested Over Newtownabbey Armed Robbery

Two men have been arrested by police investigating an armed robbery at a fast food outlet in Newtownabbey, County Antrim.

At about 23:45 on Monday evening, it was reported that two men carrying knives entered a fast food premises in the Cloughfern Corner area of the town.

The men, aged 30 and 31, threatened staff before making off with a sum of money from the cash register. Police stopped a car a short time later in the Kings Road area of Newtownabbey and arrested the men.

The men remain in custody and are currently assisting police with their inquiries.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the robbery or anyone who has any information to contact detectives at CID in Newtownabbey on the non-emergency number 101.

Two Men Arrested Over Police Officer Probe Released
Two men arrested in connection with the attempted murder of a police officer have been released. The men were detained on Monday following the incident in Dungiven, L'Derry. They were both released today, 28 April.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Two Arrested In Connection With Dissident Republican Activity Released
Two men arrested in connection with dissident republican activity have been released. The pair, aged 31 and 22, were arrested in Co L'Derry on Thursday, 31 March. They were questioned at a police station in Belfast. The pair were released unconditionally.
