Calls Made For Herzog Plaque To Be Displayed At City Hall
Calls have been made for a plaque to be placed at Belfast City Hall commemorating ex-Israeli president Chaim Herzog.
It follows the removal of a Ulster History Circle blue plaque after attacks on the birthplace of Mr Herzog on Cliftonpark Avenue.
Chaim Herzog was born in Belfast in 1918 and raised in Dublin. He served as president of Israel from 1983 to 1993.
It is understood that Lord Mayor Nichola Mallon has received a letter signed by more than 500 members of the local Jewish community, asking for the blue plaque to be displayed at City Hall until such times as it can be returned to Cliftonpark Avenue.
