Policewoman Injured In Road Accident

A policewoman has been injured in a road collision in south Belfast.

It is understood the officer was injured after her motorcycle collided with a car.

Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The incident happened on the Malone Road at around 9am on Sunday (14 September), and caused the start of the Belfast Half Marathon to be delayed.

Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to contact police.

Firefighters Attacked In L'derry

Firefighters have been attacked in L'derry following an incident on Sunday night.

It is understood they came under attack from people throwing stones.

It happened at Fountain Hill in the Waterside area of the city.

No one is thought to have been injured in the attack, but the Northern Ireland Fire Service confirmed its crew had withdrawn from the area.

£130,000 Road Scheme Commences

A £130,000 road improvement scheme has started in Magherafelt.

The project will see the reconstruction of the footways and resurfacing of the carriageway of a 550-metre stretch of Hospital Road, from Garden Street to the main access to the Mid-Ulster Hospital.

It is expected to take around five weeks to complete.

Transport Minister Danny Kennedy said: "The scheme will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of the carriageway on this important access road."

Two Road Improvement Schemes For Newcastle
Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has said work is to commence next week on two road improvement schemes in Newcastle, Co Down. The schemes will total £324,000. Work on a £270,000 resurfacing scheme on the U6208 Shimna Road, Newcastle, and a £54,000 resurfacing scheme on Park Avenue, Newcastle, is to start on Monday 13 January 2014.

Number Of Roads Remain Closed Following Storm Ali
A number of roads remain closed across Northern Ireland following the damage caused by Storm Ali. The following roads are still closed, however the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) is working to clear the obstructions along with its multiagency partners.

Belfast Road Improvement Scheme Confirmed
A road improvement scheme for Waterloo Park North and South in Belfast is set to begin on Monday, 22 May. The £166,000 scheme will include resurfacing of the carriageways and reconstruction of footways. Work will be carried out from Monday to Friday between 09.30am and 4.30pm.
