Online Help For Domestic Violence Victims Launched

Online resources to provide help for victims of domestic violence have been launched at Belfast City Hall.

The project follows funding of £5,000 from the South Belfast District PCSP and £2,000 from the East Belfast PCSP.

Councillor Kate Mullen, chair of the South Belfast DPCSP said: "Tackling domestic violence is one of the key objectives of the PCSP’s action plan, and by providing this funding we believe more victims will be able to access support from these agencies."

Edel McKenna from the Belfast Domestic Violence Partnership said: "I wish to extend my sincere thanks to South Belfast PCSP for their funding which has enabled us to update our website. As a partnership we aim to bring individuals together from a range of statutory, voluntary and community groups to enable the sharing of information, knowledge, skills and expertise in an effort to develop effective interventions and appropriate services to support victims, provide an integrated approach to support and lobby for initiatives that hold perpetrators to account. By being able to update our website, this will assist us in continuing to achieve our aims in an effort to tackle domestic violence."

James Knox, Project Co-ordinator of the Men’s Advisory Project added: "With the valued support of the South Belfast DPCSP our website has been upgraded and allows us to project the services MAP offers to a far wider audience than we had previously. One of the issues we know men have is not knowing what services are available to them as victims of domestic abuse and violence; our new website provides us with an effective tool to be able to make contact with those men who require our valued service."
