Shop Worker Threatened At Knifepoint

A shop worker has been threatened at knifepoint during a robbery.

The incident occurred at a premises in the Upper Dunmurry Lane area on Tuesday at around 8.30pm.

The female worker was threatened by two men, one of whom was armed.

She was not injured during the robbery.

It is understood the men fled the scene with a quantity of cigarettes.

Chief Inspector John Wilson said: "I would appeal to anyone who may have noticed any vehicles or persons acting suspiciously in the area between 8pm and 8.30pm to contact Detectives at Lisburn on the non-emergency number 101."

Go Ahead For Dungannon Community Facility

Environment Minister Mark H Durkan has approved planning permission for a new community building in Dungannon.

The facility totals 2,140 sq m and will be located over three floors.

It will allow the South Tyrone Empowerment Programme (STEP) to further its aims by providing community facilities in the form of a shared community building for the delivery of its key services.

The Minister commented: "This is a boost for STEP and Dungannon, as the development will benefit the town for many years by providing vital services. Much improved facilities for STEP's services will also mean regeneration in Dungannon. Much needed employment will be created during the construction phase.

"This decision, like a number I have announced recently, has been turned around quickly and shows how the planning system can deliver for the community."

Peter Robinson Denies Resignation Claims

Peter Robinson has denied reports that he plans to step down from politics before the next assembly election.

In a statement, the First Minister and DUP leader said: "Neither now, nor before the Assembly election, have I any plans to stand down and the public and media can be confident that when I decide such a moment has arrived I will be the one to make the announcement.

"I repeat the comments I have previously made that I will continue to lead as long as the party and the electorate in east Belfast wish me to do so."

On Tuesday, Edwin Poots, a senior member of Robinson's party claimed the politician was to step down from the role of First Minister before 2016.
