Ministers Announce Trilateral Meeting To Discuss Constitutional Change

The First Minister and deputy First Minister have announced a trilateral meeting to discuss the way in which the nations of the UK are governed.

Mr Peter Robinson MLA and Mr Martin McGuinness MLA made the decision following discussions in Gleneagles on Friday.

The heads of government of Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland will meet together in coming weeks to discuss how the outcome of the Scottish Referendum will impact on constitutional and policy reform across the United Kingdom.

The Ministers said: "The Scottish Referendum has provided a unique opportunity to examine the process of constitutional change and the impact on devolved institutions.

"Following discussions on Friday, we have agreed to meet with the First Minister of Scotland, Alex Salmond and the First Minister of Wales, Carwyn Jones to identify what issues need to be addressed and how best to do so.

"There is a need for a new conversation with all the devolved institutions around the table. Through collaboration we will be better placed to work in a manner which benefits all our people."
