Further Cars Damaged In South Belfast

Police are appealing for information after two more cars were set on fire in the Holylands area of south Belfast.

At around 6am on Wednesday morning, a car was set alight on Palestine Street in the city, which caused another car nearby to catch fire. A house was also damaged in the incident.

In a statement, Chief Inspector Robert Murdie, Area Commander for South Belfast, said: "A witness has provided us with information that leads us to believe that the male involved has a distinctive limp."

They have asked resident to "remain vigilant" and report any suspicious activity in the area.

Belfast's Kremlin Nightclub Sold

Belfast's longest-running gay nightclub has been sold for around £3m, it has been reported.

Anthology NI has been the tenant in the venue for the last five years, but following the sale, will now take full ownership.

The sale of the Kremlin Licensed Complex, which includes The Kremlin Club, Union Street Bar and The Shoe Factory Club started in 1999. It has since become one of Belfast's best-known licensed premises.

Planning Approved For Residential Development

Planning approval has been given for a new residential development in Creggan.

The development, consisting of 127 social housing units, will be constructed on the former St Peter's High School site in the area.

It will consist of six four-bedroom homes, 63 three-bedroom houses, 30 two-bedroom houses, 28 one-bedroom apartments, new access and associated site works.

The site is located within an area identified as having an "acute" need for social housing. Recently, a development of 180 social housing units was approved on an adjacent site at Ballymagowan.

Brewery To Become New Homes
A new £25m housing scheme has been approved for the old Bass Brewery in west Belfast. Some 166 new homes will be built in what is being billed as one of the largest social housing schemes undertaken in Northern Ireland. It will also create much needed employment - with some 200 on-site jobs boosting the beleaguered construction industry.

£5m Housing Opened In North Belfast
A new £5m social housing scheme in has been opened in north Belfast. The opening of the 40, two-bedroom apartments follows the development of Brookfield Mill, a former linen mill. The five-story accommodation was provided by Flax Housing Association with part funding from the Northern Ireland Executive through the Department for Social Development.
