Three men appear in court over drugs find

Three men have appeared in court today following the largest ever seizure of cannabis in Northern Ireland.

Stephen Spence, 28, from Belfast, Stephen Martin, 40, from Carrickfergus, and Nigel Carter, 36, from Fleetwood in England appeared before Belfast Magistrate's Court after being arrested in connection to the £2.5 million find.

Police discovered the drugs after searching a lorry on the Woodburn Road in Carrickfergus. It is believed the drugs were bound for the hands of loyalist paramilitaries.

All three men were released on bail, however they must report regularly to the PSNI and police in Fleetwood.
