Go-Ahead For New L'Derry Footpath And Cycle Provision
Planning approval has been approved for the provision of a new footpath and cycleway provision at Creggan Burn, Derry.
The project will provide a new footpath and cycleway infrastructure within Creggan Burn Park and include landscaping, street furniture, fencing, gates, lighting and drainage.
The park a nine hectare open space area bounded to the north and south by the higher density residential areas of Rosemount, Glen Road and Creggan Road in the city.
Environment Minister Mark H Durkan, who has recommended planning approval, said: "This is welcome news for the Rosemount and Glen Road areas and adjacent neighbourhoods of the city. The proposal provides for well-planned footpath and cycleways that provide linkages into the surrounding communities from this strategically located area of open space. At the same time it provides for enhanced security and access arrangement for adjacent residences, this is welcome as this area has been blighted with anti-social behaviour over a number of years.
"The proposal also contributes to the ongoing development by Derry City Council of its Access Plan that envisages a citywide network of greenways for walking and cycling. This shows how planning can promote sustainable urban and rural access opportunities within the Derry City Council area, and provides recreational, health, amenity and tourism benefits."

£100m Antrim Housing Development Approved
A total of £100 million is to be invested in a major housing scheme in Antrim Town, creating up to 100 new jobs. Bereaved Families Pay Tribute To Tragic Cookstown Teens
Families of the tree tragic teens who died in a crush at a St Patricks event on Sunday have paid tribute to their lost loved ones. The young victims, 16-year-old Connor Currie, 17-year-old Lauren Bullock and 17-year-old Morgan Barnard, died after the incident at the Greenvale Hotel in Cookstown on Sunday 17 March.

Police have said there was "no evidence" of shots being fired at a house in L'Derry. The incident happened in the Cornshell Fields area shortly after 11pm on Monday, 27 February. A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police have carried out a number of enquiries and there is no evidence to suggest that shots were fired.
