Planning Permission Approved For St Columb's College
Planning permission has been approved for St Columb's College in L'Derry.
The plans will see a new drama suite, plus sports and fitness facilities created at the college.
It is understood a number of existing single-storey buildings will be demolished, with temporary buildings being removed on the site to allow the new facilities to go ahead.
Approving the plans, Environment Minister Mark H Durkan said: "I very much welcome Derry City Council's backing for these new facilities at St. Columb's. As a former pupil I am well aware of the school's proud heritage in drama, music and sport.
"These new facilities will greatly enhance opportunities for pupils and teachers. Local community and parents groups will also be able to avail of these state of the art facilities.
"This application was recommended for approval within seven weeks of receipt and demonstrates my continuing commitment to a speedier, more efficient and fit for purpose planning system."
