Officers Injured In Stolen Car Collision
Two PSNI officers were injured when a stolen car reversed into their vehicle in west Belfast on Monday afternoon.
A man and two teenagers have been arrested.
The incident followed the theft of a car in the Clifton Street area of north Belfast on Monday.
It is thought the car may have been involved in thefts at business premises in the Rosemary Street and Boucher Crescent areas.
Farmer Convicted Of Animal Cruelty
A Strabane farmer has been sentenced at Dungannon Magistrates' Court on one charge of causing unnecessary suffering to a sheep.
Richard Black, of Moorlough Road, Artigarvan, Strabane, Co Tyrone, received a fine of £200 plus £25 costs and £15 offenders levy. He had pleaded guilty to the charge, which arose when a consignment of sheep being transported to an abattoir was examined by the Veterinary Officer on duty. Severe welfare problems were detected in a sheep.
Confiscation Order Obtained Over £20k Benefit Fraud
The Social Security Agency Financial Investigation Unit has obtained a Confiscation Order to the value of £1,809 against John Donaghy for falsely claiming benefits.
58-year-old Mr Donaghy of Springfarm Heights, Newry, County Down, claimed Jobseekers Allowance and Housing Benefit on the basis that he was unemployed and had no other source of income.
But, it was discovered that Mr Donaghy had failed to declare he had capital above the statutory threshold. As a result, he received £21,393 in benefits he was not entitled to over a four-year period.
On 30 June 2014 the defendant pleaded guilty to three charges of dishonesty.
Motorcyclist Injured In RTC In Antrim
A motorcyclist has been involved in a "serious" two-vehicle crash in County Antrim.
The incident occurred between Magheramorne and Ballycarry on the A2 Larne Road on Tuesday, just after midday.

James Logue (45) of Main Street, Castlederg was convicted at Strabane Magistrates' court after he claimed Housing Benefit totalling £2,057 by making a false statement of occupation.

Child Benefit Boost For NI Families
Families in Northern Ireland who receive Child Benefit will see an increase in their payments from next week, HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has announced. From Monday, 7th April 2025, the weekly payment for the eldest or only child will rise to £26.05, equating to £1,354.60 per year. For each additional child, the weekly rate will increase to £17.
